KEY GAME INFORMATION

TEXAS A&M: Last season: 16-15.
Who's gone: G J.C. Hampton, F Tavario Miller.
Who's back: F Robert Williams. A projected NBA lottery pick, Williams chose to return for his sophomore season instead of entering the draft. He looks to build off a solid freshman season where he averaged 11.9 points and 8.2 rebounds. The 6-foot-10 Williams led the SEC with 46 blocked shots during league play and was second in rebounds a game with 9.6 during conference play. He had 22 games with multiple blocks. C Tyler Davis. The junior led the SEC and ranked 14th in the nation by making 62.9 percent of his field goals last season. The 6-foot-10 Davis averaged 14.1 points and seven rebounds a game last year.
Who's new: G Duane Wilson. The graduate transfer played at Marquette for three seasons where he made 51 starts and averaged 8.8 points and 2.3 rebounds; G/F Savion Flagg. The freshman averaged 31.3 points, 11.1 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.4 blocks a game in his last year in high school and was named the fourth-best player in Texas by ESPN.
The Skinny: After failing to make the NIT last season after reaching the Sweet 16 in 2016, the Aggies have the talent to return to the NCAA Tournament this season. The key will be the continued development of Williams and if Wilson or J.J. Caldwell can step in to provide an upgrade at point guard.

TENNESSEE: Last season: 16-16, hasn't reached NCAA Tournament since 2014.
Who's gone: G Robert Hubbs III, G Kwe Parker (transfer to Cape Fear Community College), G Shembari Phillips (transfer to Georgia Tech).
Who's back: F Grant Williams earned freshman all-SEC honors from the league's coaches and is the Vols' top returning scorer (12.6) and rebounder (5.9); F Admiral Schofield averaged 8.2 points and 4.4 rebounds last season; G Jordan Bone (7.2 ppg), G Lamonte' Turner (8.2) and G Jordan Bowden (7.9) all had their moments last season; F Kyle Alexander has started 34 games over the last two years.
Who's new: G James Daniel III averaged 27.1 points per game for Howard in 2015-16 to lead all Division I scorers before playing just two games last season due to an ankle injury; G Chris Darrington averaged 20.7 points and 5.1 assists last season at Vincennes (Ind.); F Derrick Walker (6-8), F Zach Kent (6-foot-10) and F Yves Pons (6-5) are freshmen who should add size and athleticism to Tennessee's frontcourt.
The Skinny: Tennessee was in NCAA Tournament contention last season before fading down the stretch. The Vols are hoping their improved depth will help them avoid a similar fate this year. If Tennessee gets more consistent production from its backcourt and Williams builds off his impressive freshman season, the Vols have a chance to earn the NCAA or NIT bid that has eluded them the last three years.

Texas A&M closer to full strength against No. 24 Tennessee

It's been a while since Texas A&M has been at full strength. The Aggies are getting closer.

Texas A&M will try to end a four-game losing streak Saturday, when the Aggies travel to No. 24 Tennessee to take on the Volunteers, who have bounced back from a bad start in SEC play with consecutive conference wins.

Texas A&M has been missing key players for a month, but is starting to get healthy. Starting shooting guard Admon Gilder played 35 minutes in his return to the lineup in a 74-73 loss at Kentucky on Tuesday. D.J. Hogg has returned from a three-game suspension, and Robert Williams is trying to get his conditioning back after missing time with the flu.

"It's only going to get better," Texas A&M coach Billy Kennedy told reporters after the loss to Kentucky. "I thought we got better today.

"We're still short-handed. Still don't have Duane Wilson back. Hope to have him back against Tennessee. He'll add some perimeter experience at the point guard and another guy who can make a three."

The Aggies (11-5, 0-4 SEC) had good looks at go-ahead baskets in the final seconds against Kentucky, but couldn't connect and remained winless in conference play.

Tennessee opened SEC play with losses to Arkansas and Auburn. After having their effort questioned by coach Rick Barnes, the Vols (11-4, 2-2 SEC) backed up a 10-point win over Kentucky with a comeback victory at Vanderbilt on Tuesday. Forward Grant Williams exploded for a career-high 37 points, helping the Volunteers erase a double-digit halftime deficit and pull away in the second half.

Grant Williams dominated in the paint and around the basket, occasionally stepping outside to show off an improved midrange game. Vanderbilt threw constant double teams at him from different areas of the floor. Williams was ready for it all.

"He's good," Tennessee coach Rick Barnes said of his sophomore star after the win over Vanderbilt. "He's really good down there when he gets it deep and he goes quick. We spent a lot of time expecting double-teams not just on Grant but on Admiral (Schofield). ... He's only going to continue to get double-teamed."

Schofield added 22 points and nine rebounds for the Vols, who scored 57 points in the second half to take down Vanderbilt.

Barnes was happy with the comeback win, but said he remains concerned about his team's consistency.

"We can't be a two-man team," Barnes said. "It's consistency what we're searching for.

And even though we found a way to come back and get this one, we got to get more consistent overall."

For A&M, Robert Williams, an NBA prospect, got off to a sluggish start against Kentucky, but finished with 12 points and eight rebounds. He missed the previous game, a loss to LSU, and sat out several practices last week.

"He's got to string some practices together and get his conditioning back to where it needs to be," Kennedy said of Williams.

Tennessee won last season's only meeting with the Aggies 73-63.
