When the New York Yankees take the field Tuesday night in their second game of the series against the Los Angeles Angels, Aaron Judge will not be in right field, and he won't be there anytime soon, having suffered a "significant" oblique strain on his left side last Saturday.

"We're not going to be able to put a timetable on it," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said on WFAN. "He does have a significant injury, so he's going to be down for a while. A while would be past that two-week timeframe, but in terms of trying to frame it and what it's going to be, I think we'll get a better feel for this thing as we move forward."

So the question for the Yankees isn't "Who's on first?" but rather, "Who's in right?"

On Monday night it was Mike Tauchman, who is also listed as the club's backup center fielder. Tauchman went 0 for 6 with two strikeouts in Monday's 4-3, 14-inning win over the Angels.

Another option is Tyler Wade, but the club might have veteran Brad Miller there soon. The club signed Miller on Monday, a week after the Cleveland Indians released him.

Miller, who reported to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, has played primarily shortstop in his career and was playing second base for the Indians this year. But he has played all three outfield positions in the majors, as well.

The Yankees will call up pitcher Jonathan Loaisiga to start the game against the Angels as manager Aaron Boone said he will go with a six-man rotation, if only temporarily.

"With a couple of our guys, I want to give them that extra day through this stretch of games, where we are (playing) 13 in a row," Boone said. "Especially early in the season as those guys build up, it's something we feel like is the right thing to do."

Loaisiga, who has never faced the Angels, made two starts with the Yankees earlier this season and posted a 3.86 ERA without a decision.

Chris Stratton will start for the Angels, looking for his first win after posting an 0-1 record with a 7.00 ERA in his first four starts this season. He has never faced the Yankees.

Tommy La Stella should be back in the starting lineup Tuesday after starting Monday's game on the bench. La Stella, a left-handed hitter, was replaced by the right-handed David Fletcher against Yankees lefty J.A. Happ.

La Stella has provided surprising power, his six homers tied with Mike Trout for the team lead. La Stella hit just one homer last year with the Cubs and his career high was five, set in 2017 with the Cubs.

"Certainly, the power has been a surprise," Angels manager Brad Ausmus said of La Stella. "We knew he gave good at-bats, that he falls under the category of 'professional hitter,' but the power has been a very pleasant surprise because we've lacked a little power as a team."
