KEY GAME INFORMATION
LA CLIPPERS: LAST SEASON: 48-34, lost 4-2 to Golden State in Western Conference first round.
COACH: Doc Rivers (seventh season with Clippers, 307-185; 21st season overall, 894-658).
PROJECTED STARTING FIVE: F Kawhi Leonard (30.5 ppg with Toronto), F Paul George (23.7 with Oklahoma City), G Patrick Beverley (7.6), G Landry Shamet (9.1), C Ivica Zubac (8.9).
KEY LOSSES: G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, F Danilo Gallinari, F Wilson Chandler, G-F Garrett Temple, G Sindarius Thornwell, G Tyrone Wallace.
KEY ADDITIONS: Leonard, George.
PLAYERS TO WATCH: It's all about newcomers Leonard and George. They'll be the top two options on offense. Leonard is coming off a season in which he led Toronto to its first NBA championship (and earned his second ring). Leonard returning home was contingent upon pairing with George, also an LA-area native. George, who finished third in MVP voting last season, can guard nearly any position while being a huge scoring threat. Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell, the NBA's top bench-scoring duo last season, will get starter-level minutes again.
OUTLOOK: No more watching other teams go deep in the playoffs. The NBA's balance of power has shifted to the Clippers, who have never advanced beyond the second round let alone won a championship. All that's expected to change behind Leonard and George, both regarded as two of the best two-way players in the league. The Clippers had to give up talented veteran Gallinari and star-in-the-making Gilgeous-Alexander, but they kept Harrell, Williams and re-signed Beverley, whose sole job will be using his tenacious D to keep others from scoring. The Clippers are favorites to win it all, a stunning shift for a franchise that has spent much of its existence as a punch line.
ORLANDO: LAST SEASON: 42-40, lost 4-1 in first round to Toronto
COACH: Steve Clifford (second season with Magic; seventh season overall, 238-254).
PROJECTED STARTING FIVE: G Evan Fournier (15.1 ppg), G D.J. Augustin (11.7), F Aaron Gordon (16.0), F Jonathan Isaac (9.6), C Nikola Vucevic (20.8).
KEY LOSSES: None.
KEY ADDITIONS: F Al-Farouq Aminu, G Markelle Fultz (acquired in February from Philadelphia but didn't play).
PLAYERS TO WATCH: There isn't a lot of mystery to the Magic entering this season, since they bring back basically the same team and will be adding a former No. 1 overall pick in Fultz who has worked for months to fix his shoulder and shooting issues. Vucevic is coming off a season where he set career-bests in points, rebounds and assists per game. When Gordon scored big, the Magic were really good; they went 16-8 in the 24 games where Gordon reached the 20-point mark. Terrence Ross is basically a sixth starter for Orlando, needing only 26.5 minutes per game to average 15.1 points last season in an instant-offense role coming off the bench.
OUTLOOK: The Magic improved by 17 wins last season and reached the playoffs for the first time since 2012, doing all that without the burden of expectation. They won't have that same luxury this year, not after bringing back virtually every part of a team that didn't just get into the playoffs but did so by going 22-9 down the stretch of the regular season. Getting to the foul line more would be a major help, after the Magic ranked last in free throws made and free throws attempted last season. The biggest challenge for Clifford may be finding ways for his team to replicate the same get-into-the-playoffs hunger it had a year ago.
PREVIEW
Minus George, Leonard leads Clippers against Magic

In a statistics-driven era, Kawhi Leonard insists he is exclusively about winning. He will get another chance to show it Sunday at Orlando when the Los Angeles Clippers close out the East Coast portion of their season-long six-game road trip.

Continuing to morph into whatever his team needs on any given night, Leonard recorded his first career triple-double Friday in the Clippers' 122-117 victory at Miami. It was just the second loss at home all season for the Heat.

With Paul George out for the past eight games because of a hamstring strain, Leonard has made a concerted effort to deliver points. His 33-point game Friday was his career-best seventh consecutive with 30 or more, all since George has been out. The club record is 11 in a row.

His 10 rebounds and 10 assists against the Heat were bonuses in a game where the Clippers needed everything they could get to win at Miami, one game after Los Angeles lost to the Atlanta Hawks. The Clippers were without Leonard (rest), George and Patrick Beverley (groin) against Atlanta.

"I guess it's a great honor, but I'm just more happy with the win," Leonard said afterward, according to the Los Angeles Times. "That's it."

Players and coaches on both sides were more than shocked at the news that Leonard had never recorded a previous triple-double while playing with the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors and Clippers.

"People in San Antonio and Toronto must not have hit shots, because it's unbelievable that's his first one," Clippers teammate Patrick Patterson said, according to the Times.

Now comes a meeting with the Magic, who the Clippers defeated 122-95 at Los Angeles on Jan. 16. Leonard had 32 points in that one, which was the fourth consecutive game George missed.

George and Beverley both are day-to-day but Beverley sounds closer to getting back on the court against the Magic. He was a last-minute scratch against the Heat.

Nikola Vucevic had 22 points with nine rebounds for Orlando in the first meeting with the Clippers. Aaron Gordon scored 20 points.

The Magic enter Sunday's game following a 109-98 defeat Friday to the Boston Celtics, their fourth loss in the past five games. Evan Fournier scored 30 points against the Celtics, while Vucevic added 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The Magic led the Celtics by 16 points in the first half but couldn't finish off the victory at home. The loss ended Orlando's three-game winning streak against Boston, and it came without the services of Jonathan Isaac, D.J. Augustin and Al-Farouq Aminu. All three have knee injuries and will not play Sunday.

Boston scored 19 points off turnovers while defeating the Magic, and the Clippers will bring the same opportunistic style into Sunday's game.

"If you're gonna be able to beat that team, you've got to be able to play through contact, not turn the ball over and have clean possessions," Magic coach Steve Clifford said, according to the Orlando Sentinel. "That takes offensive energy and force and we had none of that (against the Celtics)."
