| MISSOURI: Last season: 20-13, lost in first round of NCAA Tournament
Nickname: Tigers
Coach: Cuonzo Martin
Conference: SEC
Who's gone: PF Michael Porter Jr. (NBA), SG Kassius Robertson, F Jordan Barnett, G Brett Rau, PG C.J. Roberts (transferred to Texas Tech), SG Terrence Phillips, SG Blake Harris (transferred to North Carolina State)
Who's back: PF Jontay Porter averaged 9.9 points and 6.8 rebounds as a freshman, though he will miss the upcoming season after ligaments in his knee during a preseason scrimmage; C Reed Nikko, who appeared in 33 games last season; PG Jordan Geist; C Jeremiah Tilmon, who averaged 8.2 points and 4.2 rebounds last season; PF Kevin Puryear, who averaged 8.6 points.
Who's new: PG Ronnie Suggs transferred from Bradley; PF K.J. Santos transferred from Tallahassee Community College; SG Torrence Watson, a four-star prospect from St. Louis; PG Xavier Pinson from Chicago; PF Parker Braun from Blue Valley Northwest in suburban Kansas City.
The Skinny: The Tigers lost their top two scorers in Robertson and Barnett to graduation, while Porter Jr. departed after playing just three games as a freshman. They thought they got a big boost when his younger brother, Jontay, announced he would return for another season but he tore ligaments in his knee during a scrimmage with Southern Illinois. Now the NCAA Tournament could be a tall task.
Expectations: Las Vegas oddsmakers have Missouri at 225-1 to win the NCAA Tournament. |
