| NEW MEXICO ST: Despite winning their first bowl in 57 years, head coach Doug Martin's Aggies still have something to prove in 2018 after getting the boot from the Sun Belt. Now an Independent, NMSU has winnable games on its schedule and a defense that will keep it in almost every contest. The primary challenge comes on offense, where the Aggies must replace quarterback Tyler Rogers and RB Larry Rose III, who led the team in rushing and was second in receiving last season. | | BYU: 2017 was the worst season in recent memory for BYU, which went 4-9 to finish below .500 since 2004. Incoming offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes inherits a unit that was one of the worst in the nation last year, and will look to rebuild on the back of talented RB Squally Canada. The defense was actually pretty good last year, and should remain so this season. The schedule won't give the Cougars any breaks, though, as it's a mix of Pac-12 contenders (Arizona, Washington, Utah), Group of Five powers (Boise State, Northern Illinois) and a top-five preseason team in Wisconsin. |
